Description
This OSHA-authorized online 10-Hour General Industry Voice Authentication course—offered through the EST Safety Network in partnership with ClickSafety—provides essential workplace safety training with built-in voice authentication to confirm your identity throughout the course. This meets New York City’s proctoring requirements under Local Law 196 (LL196).
This course uses voice authentication. Voice-authenticated (VA) courses were developed in conjunction with the New York City Department of Buildings (NYCDOB) to address LL196 online proctoring requirements. The course prompts you to verify your voice at random intervals, ensuring the person taking the course is the person receiving the credential. You must have access to a mobile phone or landline while taking the course.
Whether you work in manufacturing, warehousing, healthcare, or any other general industry setting in New York City, this training covers the latest OSHA safety standards, employee rights, employer responsibilities, and essential hazard recognition. Upon completion, you’ll receive a certificate of completion right away and earn your DOL/OSHA 10-Hour Card, shipped within two weeks.
Complete the course on your own schedule from any device—laptop, tablet, or phone—anywhere, anytime.

What is voice authentication and why is it required in New York City?
Voice authentication (VA) is a technology that verifies your identity by recording and matching your voice at random intervals during the course. It was developed in conjunction with the New York City Department of Buildings to meet Local Law 196 (LL196) proctoring requirements for online OSHA training. You must have access to a mobile phone or landline while taking the course to complete the verification steps.
Do I need voice authentication if I don’t work in New York City?
Not necessarily. Voice authentication is primarily required for New York City workers under LL196. If you don’t fall into this category, the standard OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Training course may be a better fit and does not require voice authentication.
How long does the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Voice Authentication course take online?
The course takes approximately 10 hours to complete, with a minimum required time of 10.25 hours in the course and supplemental material. Voice authentication adds brief pauses for identity verification but does not significantly increase total time. You can work at your own pace and have 180 days to finish.
What score do I need to pass the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry exam?
You must achieve a minimum score of 70% on the final assessment. You have up to 3 attempts to pass, and all incorrect answers generate immediate feedback to help you learn the material.
Is the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Voice Authentication course available in Spanish?
Yes. This course is available in both English and Spanish. You can select your preferred language when you begin the course.
How long does it take to receive my OSHA 10-Hour General Industry DOL card?
ClickSafety will mail your DOL/OSHA 10-Hour Card to you within approximately two weeks of completing the course. Your certificate of completion is available immediately and can be used in the meantime to document your training.
What is the difference between this course and the OSHA 10-Hour Construction Voice Authentication course?
The General Industry VA course covers safety topics specific to manufacturing, warehousing, healthcare, and other non-construction workplaces. The Construction VA course covers construction-specific hazards. Both use the same voice authentication technology. Choose the course that matches your work environment.
